More ways to win in every badminton match
The most fundamental bet — pick the player or team you think will win the match. In badminton there are no draws, so it comes down to two options: player A or player B wins. A great starting point for beginners just getting into Sports Betting at Shell99.
Predict whether a match will be won in straight sets (2-0) or go the distance to a third (3 sets). In badminton, the best-of-3 format means every match ends either 2-0 or 2-1. This market is especially popular when the skill gap between the two players isn't too wide.
The weaker player is given a set head start. Example: Player A at +1.5 sets means even if they lose 0-2, a bet on A still wins — with the handicap applied, it's as though they only lost 1.5-2. This levels the playing field for uneven matchups.
Bet while the match is live, with odds that shift on every point. Ideal for those watching in real time who can read the momentum — if the player you've backed is dominating in the second set, their odds may still offer good value before they close it out.
Predict the exact score of each set in a match. For example: first set 21–15, second set 21–18. This is the most challenging bet type on offer, but it comes with significantly higher odds and payouts compared to standard bets. Best suited for players who have a deep understanding of both competitors' game.
Pick the overall tournament winner before the event kicks off. For the Malaysia Open, Thomas Cup, or BWF World Championships — an outright bet can deliver a big return if you spot the winner earlier than most. These bets open well before the first day of competition.
In badminton betting, decimal odds are the most straightforward format to work with. Simply multiply your stake by the odds to get the total payout, including your original stake. Lower odds indicate a favourite, while higher odds mean a lower chance of winning but a bigger return if your bet comes in.
Badminton is more than just a sport in Malaysia — it's a national language everyone understands. From school courts in Sabah to the professional arena at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, the love for badminton runs deep in Malaysian DNA. Generation after generation, names like Razif Sidek, Jalani Sidek, Rashid Sidek, Fong Kok Keong, and the iconic Lee Chong Wei have all become part of the nation's proud story. Now a new generation — Zii Jia, Tze Yong, Aaron-Wooi Yik, and Pearly-Thinaah — carries that legacy forward on the world stage.
Shell99 understands this passion and has built a badminton betting section that truly respects the depth of knowledge local fans bring. Unlike other sports where users might only follow the headlines, Malaysian badminton fans tend to know a great deal more — they know each player's style, their technical strengths and weaknesses, head-to-head records, and how certain players hold up under pressure. That knowledge is your most valuable edge when you're facing the odds at Shell99.
Shell99's badminton betting platform gives you the information you need to make well-informed decisions. Head-to-head records, player performance at specific tournaments, and the latest injury updates are all available on a single page. That means you don't have to tab between multiple sites hunting for basic stats — Shell99 has everything you need to place smarter badminton bets, all in one place.
Live betting is arguably the most exciting feature of badminton betting at Shell99. Picture this: you're watching the Malaysia Open and Zii Jia is trailing 10-16 in the second set. To the casual viewer it looks grim, but anyone who knows how Zii Jia plays understands he is capable of extraordinary comebacks when his back is against the wall. That's the moment his odds spike, and a knowledgeable bettor can find real value there. Shell99 updates odds on every single point across every set, giving an edge to those who are truly locked in on the match.
For fans who follow the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup closely, Shell99 offers exceptionally comprehensive coverage. Every match in these team formats combines the skill of individual badminton with genuine national pride — you're not just backing a player, you're backing an entire country. Shell99 offers a wide range of markets for this format, from the result of each individual tie to predicting who will clinch the first 3 wins out of the 5 matches played.
